Adani Airports Rs 9,825 Crore Fundraising Gets Investor Backing

Adani Enterprises will raise around Rs 9,825 crore through fresh shares in its airport business, with Temasek, BlackRock, Premji Invest and Alpha Wave joining the investment consortium. The deal will give investors a combined stake of up to 5.54% in Adani Airport Holdings, while Adani Enterprises will remain the controlling shareholder.
The Adani Airports Rs 9,825 crore fundraising values the airport operator at about $18 billion before the investment. The company has not disclosed the size of tranches or the price at which the new shares will be issued.
The fresh capital will support airport network expansion, including modernisation of existing facilities and development of airport-linked commercial infrastructure. Funds will also support businesses such as ground handling and passenger services, according to the company.
The investor group includes Temasek’s Jongsong Investments, Alpha Wave III, Premji Invest’s PI Opportunities funds and funds managed by BlackRock. The Adani Airports stake sale brings several major institutional investors into the airport platform.
Adani Airport Holdings operates eight airports, including Mumbai International Airport. The company accounts for about 25% of India’s passenger traffic and 33% of the country’s air cargo volumes, giving the business a position in aviation infrastructure.
The Adani Airports Rs 9,825 crore fundraising comes as the company seeks capital to expand its airport network and related services. Because the transaction involves fresh shares, the proceeds will go into the business rather than being raised through a secondary sale by the parent company.
For Adani Enterprises, retaining control of Adani Airport Holdings allows the group to continue directing the airport business while bringing additional capital into the platform. The airport network expansion will cover infrastructure upgrades and commercial development around the airports.
The Adani Airports stake sale also brings together investors with experience across global markets. Their participation provides capital for growth plans without changing Adani Enterprises’ controlling position.
