Cal Poly and Nvidia team up to launch $3 million AI Factory for advanced computing

California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) is partnering with Nvidia to establish an AI Factory with the goal of advancing research in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. The lab represents an investment of $3 million.
This AI Factory will be a gateway to a strong computing infrastructure for students and researchers, thus enabling them to carry out machine learning, simulation, data analysis and AI development projects at a highly advanced level. It is a response to the growing demand for computational research and practical AI applications.
The decision is in line with a wider trend in higher education and industry, where universities are creating innovation hubs as a response to the increase in AI and computing needs. Cal Poly students will thus have the opportunity to get practical experience with the technology of the future.
By working with Nvidia, Cal Poly not only gets the hardware, but it also can have the access to the most advanced software and support, thus giving the students and faculty the opportunity to be involved in a project that may lead to AI research, industry applications, or global computing solutions.
This laboratory is a clear indication of Cal Poly’s dedication to science and technology. The AI Factory at Cal Poly could be the students’ first step towards a future of innovation and impactful work, if they are interested in AI, data science or computational research.
